Periodontal Treatment

Almost 80% of the population has some form of periodontal (gum) disease. Though it is initially painless, this bacteria-triggered disease, when left untreated, can result in permanent tooth loss. The treatments we offer include:

• Scaling root planing-- a special type of treatment that goes deeper below the gum line to remove contaminated debris, pus, and bacteria.
• Anti-microbial treatment -- the placement of antibiotics around your gums to treat or help prevent gum disease, or antibiotic therapy (in pill form) for difficult-to-treat gum disease.
• Frequent cleanings/Recare appointments—to prevent gum disease from returning.
• Proper referral to a caring gum specialist if necessary

Hospital Dentistry

If you are fearful of going to the dentist because of past experiences… or are just very afraid of going in general… there are alternative treatments available to you. We are able to provide many treatments while you are asleep! Dr.Dion is affiliated with CMC and Elliot Hospital and performs many general dental procedures at these hospitals. General anesthesia or sedation is performed by staff anesthesiologists at these facilities. You would be able to go home that day with all your treatment complete! Young children as well as those with special needs may need to be treated in this way.
